This beautiful Spirit Box, by West Coast artist Thomas McPhee, is made from crushed marble and has been highly polished so it has a rich finish. Orca is ‘Lord of the Oceans’ and a symbol of long life and family unity. One North Coast Indian legend tells the story of two brothers who were on shore fighting. They were constantly arguing and almost killing one another. Orca saw them fighting so he went and took one brother out to sea. The brother who had been left eventually became so despondent and sad that he almost died. He missed his brother so much. Orca saw this so he took the brother back from the sea and reunited the family. You see the face of the brother on the lid of the box in front of orca’s dorsal fin. Dimensions: 10'' x 6''
